This simple Apple Cider Honey Baked Ham uses apple cider in addition to traditional honey for a delightfully sweetened holiday ham. This recipe couldn't be easier, in less than 15 minutes you'll have your ham in the oven!
Ingredients
-
1 Organic Prairie® Bone In Half Ham
-
170 grams (1/2 cup) raw honey
-
1/2 cup apple cider
-
57 grams (1/4 cup) light brown sugar
-
44 grams (2 tablespoons) maple syrup
Directions
- Make sure your Organic Prairie Ham is thawed. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Add the ham to a 5.5-quart Dutch oven or baking dish, cut side down.
- In a small pot, add the honey, apple cider, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Put over medium/high heat and melt until the honey and brown sugar have melted and you have a liquid, this will just take a few minutes.
- Pour half the honey mixture over the top of the ham to coat it completely. Use a pastry brush to brush the sides as needed to ensure it’s completely coated.
- Cover the ham with foil. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the internal temperature is 140°F.
- Remove foil and add the remaining honey mixture to the ham. Turn oven to 400°F and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, to brown the ham. Careful not to burn as honey and sugar can burn easily.
- There will be excess honey mixture in your baking dish, use the extra to drizzle over ham for serving for a little extra sweetness.
Garnish with fresh apples, cranberries, and rosemary (optional).
